THE HUMAN CONDITION
Zeitgeist: Moving Forward, by director Peter Joseph, is a feature length documentary work which will present a case for a needed transition out of the current socioeconomic monetary paradigm which governs the entire world society. This subject matter will transcend the issues of cultural relativism and traditional ideology and move to relate the core, empirical "life ground" attributes of human and social survival, extrapolating those immutable natural laws into a new sustainable social paradigm called a 'Resource-Based Economy'. |
The reason general job training doesn’t work is simple. How does one educate, train and support an individual for all types of jobs? It’s too general. In addition, what’s the retention rate on general education and training when the training isn’t applied within a short period of time, and to a specific career?
Teach someone how to do it. Show them how to do it. Guide them in doing it. Supervise them doing it. And finally, let them do it on their own; that is how you train someone for a specific job. And a managerial career has a multitude of jobs. Therefore, to be effective in all types of career training, the job training must be done: ‘ON THE JOB’. This is the essence of the LUVRules, inc. 501(c)3 version of Social Capitalism.
LIVE FOR YOUR EULOGY?
Within each of us are two selves, suggests David Brooks in this meditative short talk: the self who craves success, who builds a résumé, and the self who seeks connection, community, love — the values that make for a great eulogy. (Joseph Soloveitchik has called these selves "Adam I" and "Adam II.") Brooks asks: Can we balance these two selves? |
The American Association of Social Capitalists (AASC) holds an Annual Conference in the City of Portland for the purpose of revitalizing a sustainable tourism industry throughout America; via a federation of associations, corporations, and foundations: to help in the creation of a community-revitalization ‘blueprint’.
AASC’s mission is to use the business of hospitality to successfully execute a multitude of Journeyman Villages while co-creating the ideal of ‘community’ in American Cities, and therefore the world. These ‘Journeyman Villages’ will be focused on revitalizing our communities through the interdependent synergies of jobs programs, microfinance, small businesses, the service industries, and the ‘arts’.
The plan is to unify charitable organizations, corporations, and associations in the mission of co-creating the 'essence of community', while executing the higher purpose to effectively serve the greater good.
OUR ADDICTION TO POWER
Canadian physician Gabor Maté is a specialist in terminal illnesses, chemical dependents, and HIV positive patients. Dr. Maté is a renowned author of books and columnist known for his knowledge about attention deficit disorder, stress, chronic illness and parental relations. His theme at TEDxRio+20 was addiction -- from drugs to power. From the lack of love to the desire to escape oneself, from susceptibility of the being to interior power -- nothing escapes. And he risks a generic and generous prescription: "Find your nature and be nice to yourself." |
